Inventive and Action-Oriented

Five years ago I started using the Garuda personality test as a leadership tool. The gain is a thorough understanding for a person's talents, strengths and weaknesses. I have chosen to publish my personality test as I feel that transparency is a precondition for a good partnership and successful projects.

Competency Profile of Jesper Kring.

By Christel HĂžjvang Weinkouff,
Development Consultant

The Competency Profile is a factor analysis, that explores 16 personality traits, and which has a bearing on work- and management success. The profile is structured in three dimensions; the cognitive competencies, the social competencies and the action competencies, also termed the "head, heart and leg model".

The Competency Profile is used as talking points for a dialogue where the focus in on the person's preferred behavior and work and management potential.

Below is a summary of the Personality Profile with a focus on the primary competencies:

Jesper Kring is a person that strives to reach his goals. He reaches them by being extremely presentation and development focused in everything he does. His super-drive and level abstraction is also his challenge.

Jesper Kring is a person that loves an intellectual challenge and he uses theory and models as a base, which can be part of the reason why new concepts come into fruition.

When Jesper Kring develops new concepts it is done with a wide brush, from a holistic perspective. This can result in that not all the details have been thought through. Similarly continuous work with a task becomes uninteresting - it is more fun starting things than carrying through with them. He is an entrepreneur not a closer. Because of that, it is of great importance that Jesper finds sparring with his colleagues and partners, that can realize his many ideas, catch the many balls that he has in the air -ideas are only interesting once they have been realized!

Jesper Kring is a man of action and things can never happen quickly enough! He can handle stressful work situations as he does not need to explore every avenue in order to make a decision.

The challenge for Jesper Kring's profile is that he operates at a different regarding the generation of ideas. This can partly explain why he feels that coworkers are unable to follow him, as he gets inspired and sees new angles that others have not seen.

Jesper Kring is the type that, to a certain extent, is open to emotive impulses. By this is meant that he can sometimes jump the gun, but that he usually doesn't loose the big picture.

Details do not block new ideas as he does not focus upon these. On the contrary, he needs freedom and room to act and through abstract thought, think and decide, also when taking risks.

The greatest dilemma for Jesper is when he has to sell his ideas to a group of realists. Realists are the antithesis of Jesper as they have a hard team relating to his ideas that are founded in intuition and theory.

When you as a person have a tendency to soar high, time can become relative. When Jesper is involved with a project, time flies and everything around him is forgotten. He will focus his attention and forget the reality around himself. Consequently he can forget appointments though not intentionally.

Jesper Kring is socially able to create warmth and lasting relationships. He is able to be detached and objectively empathetic. This focus can be relatively easily turned off and replaced by the more subjective empathy. This need drives him to act quickly when things turn against him.

Jesper Kring is a person who is fast, open and transparent towards others. Other people's behavior is registered and he signals an expectation of goal- and result oriented work behavior. He has difficulty in showing patience when coworkers do not live up to his norms and demands. He does not expect the world to show him any patience when he does not live up to his own expectations.

Jesper Kring has the will and the urge for influence to create new things - a person that through his robustness can scale the greatest obstacles and brush aside any critical arguments - he knows what he wants and believes in it.

Jesper Kring is a person that is used to winning. He is a performance person that is motivated by the expectation of successful results. Opposition is challenged and his confidence gives him a boost. It is the positively self reinforcing spiral to the future.

Jesper Kring is the epitome of an entrepreneur. He is the one that sets himself new and more ambitious goals. He never rests on his laurels as he would consider that boring.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI):

Idealist-Champion (ENFP)

You perceive your surroundings as a living tapestry. Existing ideas, individuals and groups of people, products, services, or relationships trigger flashes of insight about how "what is" might unfold into "what might be." You live for an exciting future you may perceive as more vivid than the present. In your ideal job, you are asked to constantly stretch your imagination. You feel rewarded where you feel free to share your insights with people who encourage your creativity and who support the unpredictable process by which you narrow down the stream of ideas into innovations that are meaningful within the scheme of your personal values. Though you are comfortable with leadership, you find arbitrary hierarchies distasteful: Your ideas are alive; they're your "babies." Deep down, you're offended by the notion that you must justify them.

Your Ideal Job:

Provides opportunity for conversations with people with whom you can brainstorm and share ideas.

Allows and encourages you to innovate, giving you room to experiment.

Exposes you to new ideas and experiences.

Lets you combine people, ideas, products, and services in new and unusual ways.

Provides a lot of variety.

Takes place in an expressive, harmonious environment.

You are an "eternal optimist."

Things you're good at:

Because you are slow to dismiss "inappropriate" notions, you often arrive at the kinds of brilliant solutions that seem obvious once they are implemented.

Your taste for adventure means that your "out of the box thinking" doesn't come from thin air; you draw on an unusually broad diversity of experiences and observations.

You can be as supportive and as protective of other people's wild ideas as you are of your own and help to keep your workplace from stagnating.

You may find that you are often the only person willing to say something that desperately needs saying.

You are very articulate and use that gift to dispel conflict that arises from misunderstanding.

You can often talk your way into or out of situations.

You think well on your feet.

Things to be aware of:

Your enthusiasm may seem overly intense to some people in some situations.

Your pursuit of novelty means you sometimes move on before you harvest the fruit of your own ideas.

You may unrealistically expect other people to be as excited about your projects or goals as you are.

You may have a tendency to "stir things up just to see what comes out of it" without considering the consequences.

You have great difficulty making choices; you may be seen as a dilettante.

Nonconformity may mean that you underachieve or are a late bloomer to success.

Your dislike of repetition can lead to your being less than conscientious.
